Over the more than 30 years that I have practiced law in the employment arena, I often answered the phone by asking, "How can I help you? Invariably the reply started off with, “IT'S ABOUT MY JOB”. Many questions - whether they be from EMPLOYERS or EMPLOYEES, were the same or similar -- just different facts. They might have dealt with a Wrongful Termination, or a serious On-the-job Injury, or Unemployment Benefits, or Overtime Wages, or Discrimination. Maybe the question was, Do I need an Attorney? Or, How much will an Attorney cost? Or, Should I mediate my case at the EEOC? Or, Can you tell me about how unions work? Sometimes they even involved "away from the job" matters, e.g., Can you help me with a question about my will or the probate of my mother's will?
In our BLOG, we’ll discuss those questions and many more. Hopefully, you'll be able to relate to them and maybe the answers will give you a better handle on just where you stand in your relationship with your Employer or Employees.
