Over the more than 30 years that I have practiced law in the employment arena, I often answered the phone by asking, "How can I help you? Invariably the reply started off with, “IT'S ABOUT MY JOB”. Many questions were the same or similar -- just different facts. They might have dealt with a Wrongful Termination, or Unemployment Benefits, or Overtime Wages, or Discrimination. Maybe the question was, Do I need an Attorney? Or, How much will an attorney cost? Or, Should I mediate my case at the EEOC? Or, Can you tell me about how unions work?
